Cardinham Woods mountain bike trails

Cardinham is a beautiful mixed woodland, popular with local dog walkers, cyclists, and horse riders. Waymarked trails will take you deep into the woods to discover stunning viewpoints and an intriguing history, and Woods Cafe will help you refuel after your adventure.

The trails were created by 1 South West and are suitable for mountain bikers with a moderate level of off road riding, the blue 'Bodmin Beast' trail is focussed on how the trail flows and is more rewarding the faster you ride. At 12km long this is an exciting, fast, singletrack trail with technical climbs, and features some tight bermed corners, small step downs, rollers and table tops. All features can be rolled over at a moderate speed. The trail is exposed to steep unfenced side slopes in places, so you need to concentrate all the way!

There two difficult red grade trails, which loop off of the main blue route and these can add up to 30 mins to your ride. These are suitable for proficient mountain bikers. ‘Dialled-In Dave’ is natural, flowing and fast; an ideal introduction to Red grade single track and a great place to develop your trail riding skills. ‘Hell’s Teeth’ presents a very steep climb (very different to the flow of the blue),  but you’ll be rewarded with some narrow, flowing trail featuring numerous technical features and then a very steep bermed final descent.

Cardinham Woods is owned and managed by the Forestry Commission. You can find out more about the woods, facilities, events and how to get there on the Cardinham Woods webpages.
